Top photo I am posing next to the hand lettered Curtiss Oreiole, the first plane I lettered at the Glenn Curtiss Museum. My wife Harriett and my daughter Beth were going through the meuseum in 2001 and saw someone starting to put vinyl letters on this plane. I said to him, "Hey! That plane should me hand painted like it was when they built it!" I've been a volunteer there eversince! The caboose was hand painted by Bob Timmerman and I. This is a reproduction of the Curtiss America. It was built by the volunteers of the Glenn Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, NY. It successfully flew in September of 2008 with Jim Poel at the controls. Larry Orr and I teamed up and lettered the plane with 23 Karat Gold Leaf. It was awesome to see it fly! |
